Breaking Free from the Trance of Unworthiness: A Daylong with Satya de la Paz
with Satya de la Paz

August 6 (Sunday)
at 9:00 am

Class length
420 minutes

Location
Green Gulch Zen Center

We spend much of our lives caught in the trance of unworthiness: feeling like we’re not measuring up, convinced that we’re not enough unloveable, convinced that if people knew deep down who we really are they would reject us. This trance can show up as deficiency (believing we’re less than) or grandiosity (believing we’re better or more special than others.) This trance can lock us in a very small version of ourselves, block our potential and interconnection. The trance of unworthiness isn’t something we made up on our own. It’s not our fault we bought into it. Its born from a misunderstanding of human nature and perpetuated by the oppression of capitalism, racism, ableism, homophobia and more. Through the practices of Hatha Yoga, meditation, and discussion we will begin the collective and individual journey to reclaim and remember our worthiness. We will get out of our heads and into our hearts and our bodies. Practice examining with love the ways that we devalue ourselves. Practice celebrating our joy and innate goodness as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.  Beginners are welcome. In beloved community, we will co-create an anti-racist, anti-patriarchal, pro-Trans, pro-Queer, pro-Immigrant space through community agreements. Green Gulch Zen Center is located in Marin County in a valley connected to the Pacific Ocean. Its trails connect to Muir Beach and other scenic spots of redwoods. Our farm-to-table meal will be catered from the extensive 8-acre organic vegetable farm which also features fruit and herb cultivation. An organic plant-centered lunch is provided. (vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions available)

She recently completed a 2 year mindfulness teacher training program led by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She is deeply grateful for all her teachers including Spring Washam, Sianna Sherman, Abby Tucker, Rob Preece, and Sally Kempton. Honoring the traditions of Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga, and Tibetan Buddhism, she empowers multiracial, multi-gender, and multigenerational groups to awaken their true nature of awareness and bliss.
