Learn healthy vocal techniques for singing, sounding, and speaking. You will leave with a solid understanding of both the technical and functional aspects of the voice as well as its emotional, energetic, and psychological components so that you can free your voice and free your life.Learn how to build and tune your body instrument with breath support, proper posture, open throat, resonance, projection, and more. Next, play music on your instrument and sing songs from around the world. Connect with your intention and desire to express your heart/soul song. We will also come into alignment with our body instruments with a chakra sound and movement meditation with its vibratory resonance. We will end with an improvisational sound journey and medicine circle to release sounds and emotions and connect to our intentions for the universe. You will leave this workshop both relaxed and energized, feeling more connected to yourself and others and to your voice and truth.This workshop is for all people: total beginners, shy people, those with trauma around their voices, and experienced singers. Bio:
Phoenix Song is a queer, nonbinary vocal coach, performer, writer & sound healer featured in SF Magazine's Best of the Bay for yoga music. They trained in Somatic Voicework and are a Tamalpa Associate Teacher of Expressive Arts. Phoenix has performed and taught at Wanderlust, Esalen, the Yoga Journal Conference, Grace Cathedral, UC Berkeley and Santa Cruz, and festivals and retreats around the world. Phoenix studied Western and Indian classical music and play didgeridoo, djembe, Arabic tambourine, esraj, harmonium and sing like an angel. A specialist in world fusion music, Phoenix is known for their passionate, heartfelt music. They especially delight in freeing people's voices, rhythms, and lives! Phoenix teaches both private and group free your voice and free your voice while drumming classes. They also offer grief rituals, ancestral healing classes, theta drum journeys, and sound baths.
